Is it okay to start eating regular food again 5 days after wisdom teeth are take!

Question:

Is it okay to start eating regular food again 5 days after wisdom teeth are taken out if I feel ready?

What about the holes that are still there? I am still in a little pain but I am tired of eating baby food.
Would it hurt anything or give me dry socket if food were to get down in the holes? I still swish salt water after I eat anything.

Answers:

I was allowed to eat what I wanted as soon as I felt like eating. This was a matter of a couple of days though. As long as you are rinsing your mouth out you will be OK. So yes you should be able to eat what you want just rinse real well after, take smaller bites and keep the food toward the front of your mouth if you can. You shouldn't chew on the part where the teeth came out but I think you are already being careful of that.

You will want to watch and take smaller bites than you took before. Your mouth and jaws won't want to work quite right at first and that can be a little scary. You may even get tired of chewing after the first couple of bites and it will take longer than you used to take to finish a meal. This is a good way to loose weight but It didn't take long for me to find the lost weight after I felt better. The surgeon that did my operation told me to do exercises with my jaws, he told me to act like I was chewing gum (DO NOT CHEW GUM JUST GO THOUGH THE MOTIONS) and that would get the soreness out faster. The numbness was the worst to deal with. Learning to eat and not feel my lips. I still have some numbness in one part of my lip on one side but I hardly notice it anymore. I was warned of this before the surgery.
