Just got wisdom teeth out 2 days ago. When can I stop wearing gauze?!

Question: Dentist told me to take out the gauze once I got home and that was it. It feels like every time I put in new gauze it makes me bleed more. Been exactly 56 hours and 30 minutes since the surgery.

Guaze shouldn't be kept in longer than 24 hours. Otherwise, it interferes with normal clotting.

Get it outta your mouth, honey...

You would probably be a lot more comfortable if you just wore clothes instead.

You shouldn't be bleeding after 2 days...I'd try using as minimal amounts of gauze as possible, but if it doesn't stop bleeding you might want to get it checked out.

You could have broken tooth particles in your jaw. You really need to contact your dentist a.s.a.p.

if the bleeding seems excessive call your dentist, if its light i wouldnt worry too much about it. I had my wisdom teeth taken out four weeks ago. My instructions pretty much said to take the gauze out after a few hours, and before eating. There was still some blood on the gauze the last time I used it but it clotted up ok on its own. I just continued to rinse (very very gently) salt water for the next week or so.

Two days seems too long for gauze, imho, it may be that the clot is sticking to the gauze and you're pulling it out. It's a good question to ask your dentist

That is kinda ridiculous. No one bleeds for more than 2 days. You should only use the gauze for 2-3 hours changing it every 15-20 minutes. Bleeding beyond that you might try biting on a wet tea bag like you bit down on the gauze. Bleeding after that I would go back to the dentist or the ER to have something done at the site to get it to stop bleeding, like stitches or medication.
Using a gauze beyond this time frame of a few hours will likely prevent the formation of a clot and leave you open to developing Dry Socket.
