What will happen?!

Question:

What will happen?

I haven't seen a dentist in almost 10 years and I am VERY anxious about going, but today I phoned and I have an appointment to see one for a check up on 12th July. I'm very anxious about going, I'm scared to find out what will need done as I've never needed any work done before, but I'm sure I need at least two fillings now, probably more :o(

Can anyone talk me through what will happen at the first appointment, it's just a check-up first, but it's been so long since I was last at a dentist that I don't remember what they do or how long it takes or anything. I really need a LOT of details about what will happen so that I can prepare myself for it - I have anxiety problems anyway about new things, and I have a particular phobia of going to the dentist, but I think I might be less anxious if I knew exactly what to expect.

I also think I might have TMJ syndrome - I can't open my mouth very far (three fingers breadths hurts) and I can't hold it open for more than about a minute.......

Answers:

I'm also very nervous about going to the dentist! But as you go more often and you get used to your dentist your confidence will grow..
Check-up___ You'll be called in from waiting room by the dental nUrse..
You'll take a seat on chair...
Dentist will ask you to open wide.. (if ur able)
Dentist will use a long thing with a mirror on the end and another picky thing neither of these instruments will hurt..
Just to examine teeth they may take an xray this involves placing this kinda big thing in your mouth I've had this a couple of times and well im gonna be honest it does kinda hurt your top pattet...
Thats about all really and then she'l tell you if you need anyother work done...
