Once you get used to wearing them you don't really sound different. They apply slight pressure to your teeth just like braces to move things around so it can make your teeth slightly sore but it does not hurt. It feels like when you do a hard workout and have sore muscles. On really sore days you can take some ibuprofen to help.

you totally sound different and they also hurt really bad!! HAVE FUN!

you talk where people csnt understand you and their extremely painful i only wear mine at night bwcause my orthadonists says if i wore it more then that then id loose it so i barely wear it my advice only wear it when someone is watching but once you get braces on then that will hurt like hell

It depends on the retainer, if he gives you the clear ones you barely notice you have them in but my friend got the metal ones, at first she sounded a little different nothing to noticeable but after her mouth adjusted to them she talked normal again. Since your only getting bottoms ones I doubt you'll sound any different usually only the top ones do that, and as for pain it's nothing unbearable besides if they hurt to bad you know you'll only have them in for a few months :) Good luck!

They definitely take some getting used to, but your speech should only be altered slightly. If it is fitted properly, it shouldn't hurt, unless the retainers are designed to move the teeth rather than hold them in place. If it is supposed to start the corrective process, then it will cause some soreness. But hey, at least you are getting it all over with now, and afterward you'll have a beautiful smile that people will notice.

you'll only sound different for the first couple of days, and they might hurt for the first week or so but then you'll get used to them and you won't even feel them, if they hurt too much take some advil. just make sure you dont have tacos for the first couple of weeks they get stuck and its not fun but its not that bad
