Diazepam before dental appointment?!

Question:

Diazepam before dental appointment?

I have some diazepam 5mg tablets left over from a back injury I had (I was prescribed them to help with the muscle spasm). I'm considering making an appointment to see a dentist but I have a LOT of anxiety about it, even about the initial consultation - particularly about finding out what will need to be done. In fact I think I'm more scared about the initial consultation than I am about potentially having work done.......

I was just wondering, if I do make an appointment, could I take some diazepam before going to try and reduce my anxiety? If so, when would I need to take it for it to have an effect and what dose?

Answers:

You can take it. Do it about an hour before the appointment, on an emptty stomach. You also may want to have someone drive you.
