AHHHH is it a cavity???!

Question: Well I'm freaking out. Im oral hygiene paranoid and im losing my marbles. I get my braces off in about a month or so and i have noticed a tiny black spot on the surface of my molar. Because I have to get my teeth cleaned when i remove the braces i dont know if i should set up an appointment sooner. Usually when i go in they send me home because they say i keep my mouth too clean to be cleaned. I had the same type of spot on another tooth before getting my braces and they said there was no cavity. Now, on that tooth, the black spot is totally gone. This molar though, the spot is not getting any lighter. i floss, i brush, i flouride. i dont drink juice or pop. if i eat something sweet i eat it before my meal and then drink water and chew sugar freee gum. my tooth isnt sensitive at all. im scared. are there ways to treat an early stage cavity rather than making a hole bigger with a drill. ahhh. is there a chance its just a really dark stain??? AHHHHHHHHH : ( : ( : ( : (

It is possible (likely based on your history) it is a stain. Please relax. =] And even if it was a cavity, it will be easily fixed and will last a long, long time with your good oral hygiene. Often times, tiny pit and fissure caries can be done without anesthetic. Are you sure it is not a tiny, silver (dark, can look black) filling?
