Can braces be fun, or are they just a pain?!

Well, it really depends on the person. Most people don't like them because of the pain and how they look. Food ALWAYS gets stuck in them, and brushing and flossing takes longer. Not to mention "tightening" is sometimes painful for a couple days.
However I enjoy braces. Everyone has told me that I look great in them, that my voice doesn't slur too much, and that I look brighter. (o_O)
I recommend having a positive attitude about them. Just think about the good things about them, and the people around you will feed off of your positive vibe. The way I look at it is if you're gonna wear them for a couple years, you might as well try to enjoy them. Being angry and putting yourself down about them isn't going to make them any better, nor come off any faster.
Braces are extremely wise, they are sure to fix your teeth if they are crooked. The one thing that is certain is that your teeth and gums will experience some sort of pain for the beginning of the braces. On a scale, braces are on the good part of the scale.
Braces can be fun because you can change the colors of the ligatures every month, but they are a pain because they are hard to keep clean and your mouth is sore for about 3 days each month! Good Luck!
If I didn't need them, I wouldn't be wearing them...However, my teeth aren't perfect so I need them unfortunately.
Fun things about em'....Don't know..Haven't found anything enjoyable wearing them...The pain....Oh yes....It's annoying and there is much more pain to come before I get perfect teeth.
Braces are not meant to be fun. Their purpose is to straighten your teeth.
The answer is BOTH. Braces can be fun because all of your friends have braces and you want to match your band colors with your friends. Getting braces is exciting because you know that you will have nice straight teeth for the rest of your life which will give you confidence in speaking to people and smiling and in the way other people perceive you. Unfortunately, we do live in a superficial world.
Braces are a pain because initially, the brackets themselves may cause sores around the mouth. With braces, you will also find that you get a lot of food stuck around the wires. Braces also hurt during your appointments when the dentist tightens the wires to move your teeth around.

I remember I got them 9/7/2004.
It was the day before 5th grade started and I was soooo excited, because I thought they looked cool/unique since like no one had them.
Now, in 8th grade, I still have them "/ Ackk. But I get fitted for my retainer in 5 weeks and my braces off like around then too!!
So, all in all, they can be fun, like choosing the colors I guess, and if no one has them you can be unique. EVERYONE has them now. But the pain makes braces hurt really bad.
