Dry socket or not?!
Question: Got my wisdom tooth pulled on Dec. 31st of 2007. Its Jan. 8th of 2008 now. I believe I have a dry socket. The only reason is i'm not sure if it is one. Used a flash light to look and it appears that theres is a hole.
The only reason i'm questioning this is that I feel no pain in my gums. The only symptoms that i have is bad tatse in my mouth. Any denist out there that can help?
How long does the healing process takes seeing that it's been over a week now from the point which i gotten my tooth extracted?

If you had a dry socket you would be in tremendous pain. You could try rinsing gently with warm salt water. Be CAREFUL as vigorous rinsing could possibly dislodge a blood clot and cause a dry socket. Bad taste can be from the bleeding or food impacting the extraction site.
No that's definitely not a dry socket...you'd be in a ton of pain....I'll take a few months for your gums to completely fill the hole with new tissue
If it's been over a week and there's still a hole you need to get it looked at, the dentist can use a dressing that has a healing agent.
Make sure you're using warm salty mouthrinses regularly to make sure the bacteria and is being flushed out.
Dry sockets are generally very painful but if you smoke it can have an effect on healing.
