Should I go to another dentist for second opinion and does temporary fill-in nee!

Question:

Should I go to another dentist for second opinion and does temporary fill-in need to come out?

I was having some stinging sensation pain after getting a fill-in after going back three times to the dentist because my mouth felt uneven and she had to keep readjusting it. The fourth time, she put in a temporary fill-in, put me on antibiotics and told me that if I still felt the sensation, I need a root canal. I still have discomfort so now she says I need a root canal. I am just in the process of changing insurance and there is a waiting period, so I will end up having to pay for the entire amount which the dentist says will be around $645. My old insurance would cover half.Should I just go to another dentist for a second opinion since I will be having to pay for the root canal anyway and if I go to another dentist, should I tell them that the past one put a temporary fill - in in my mouth or do I need to go back to the dentist to have the first dentist take the temporary out or is it okay to keep it in? I know this is a lot of info but I appreciate all knowledgeable answers. Thank

Girl you go wherever you want to go. That first go around sounds a bit spooky to me! If you had a filling done and the area felt painful, it must have been a "high spot" because the occlussion was not adjusted (means the filling was not level with the rest of your teeth, that would cause pain when biting). Just because your dentist could not get it right the first or even second time, does not mean you need a root canal !? Did they take an xray and determine there was an internal infection? You didn't mention that. I would go for a second opinion, for sure!
