So i'm getting a root canal but....?!

You can usually sneak by without the crown for 6 months to 1 year. You want to be extremely careful with the tooth in that case and not bite anything hard or super sticky with it. Don't use it as your main biting tooth to bite into apples, etc. You DO NEED the crown by at least 1 year. The root canal hollows the tooth leaving only a shell that easily can break off AND it also cuts off the nutrient supply to the tooth causing the tooth to become more brittle and weak as time goes by. If you do not have this crown done the tooth may eventually break and have to be extracted, waisting your money on the root canal. It is still possible that it could break within the 1 year that you wait, it depends on the amount of tooth left and strength of that part. Many dentists offer out of office financial services that offer 1 year no interest if you are approved.

you can always get a second oppion. go seee another dentist. if it needs to be done you should do it now, it can be worst later
