Water on toothbrush before applying paste?!

Question: I am not quite sure if you are allowed to put water on your
toothbrush then placing paste on to make it more smoother.

My friends have told me that you are not suppose to, but
I didn't see the reason to why I shouldn't.

*Do you know the reason why your not recommended to?

*If so, what would I have to do instead of placing water....
put none?

Because you could get more plaque off of your teeth when the brush is dry.

Doesn't matter whether you put water on or not. It's the brushing that's the important thing.

I do, just to make sure its clean before applying paste!

I actually have never heard of this, and have been watering my toothbrush before applying the paste, and my teeth seem fine.

I do, but now that I think of it, it doesn't make a whole bunch of sense.

i put it on after i put the paste on to give me something to get the bubbles going. plus it flattens it onto the brush so it gives a good base to start brushing

I always do it helps
otherwise it is real dry

Hmm...I had no idea it might not be good to run water over your toothbrush before applying tootlhpaste. I always do because the toothpaste washes away it you put it under the faucet. And I don't like the feeling of a dry toothbrush entering my mouth.

i don't see no reason why your not supposed to put water on your toothbrush you do what makes you feel better.

I always rinse my brush before I put paste on...it makes the brush softer & that's better for your teeth & gums.

I to put water after and before placing paste..
To make sure the brush is clean...........

You can dip the brush in water before brushing. It softents the brisles. Adding water to the paste increases the foaming effect of the toothpaste. So more cleansing effect.

I too always use water, but have noticed that some people don't. I presume you do it the way your parents teach you!

But anyone who tells you that you are doing it wrong is a jerk.

To most it is a habit that is hard to break. Long ago there was a thing called tooth powder. You wet your tooth brush before you sprinkled your powder onto your brush so it would hold the powder onto your brush. Therefore your powder stayed on the brush.

I find it provides a little more moisture for the paste to foam.
I think it is more impotant that you replace your toothbrush every 3 months.

I've never heard that before, and can't think of any reason why that would be bad to do. I put water on my toothbrush first, then toothpaste, then add a little more water, before I brush my teeth.
