One of my back teeth is cracked. How do they pull it without it falling apart?!

Question:

One of my back teeth is cracked. How do they pull it without it falling apart?

I have had pain in a tooth and was sent for a root canal. When the dentist drilled out the tooth, he found that it was cracked on both sides and unable to be fixed. He said the only thing that can be done is to have it pulled. I am going this week to my regular dentist to have it taken out. How do they pull it without it breaking in two since it is already cracked? It seems like any pressure to pull it will bust it apart. If it does break up, how is it removed? Also, will they just numb it with shots like they do for a filling?

Answers:

The dentist will pull them out for you.
