Wisdom teeth extraction through the cheek?!

Question: I got my 4 wisdom teeth cut out friday and when i look in my mouth all i see is an incision on either side of my cheek. is this where they took the teeth out of? also, it is right where my bottom and top teeth meet so when i close my mouth, my teeth bite against the wound. is there any way to prevent this?

It is normal to see that incision go to the cheek. The teeth might have been sideways and that's just the angle it took to cut them out.
Since you had them out on Friday it is safe to rinse your mouth. Rinse several times a day with warm salt water. This will soothe the gum tissues and it speeds up the healing process. Also, flush out the sockets (holes where the teeth were) with salt water after every meal. pick up irrigation bottle at the drug store. Once the swelling goes down you will be able to close without biting your wounds. It can take 5-7 days for the swelling to subside.
Hang in there! It is a painful process, but it won't last much longer.

Suck on a lot of ice, and drink a lot of water. The more you rotate your saliva the faster it will heal. I would chew slowly for a few days if at all, not much though.

Also if you want to heal really fast, form personal experience you want to clot up the blood & wound in the cheek gargle the stuff they tell you to, you can call them and ask them... I think it's like a mouthwash and cleanser. BUT BUT BUT be warned it STINGS!

That will help it stay clean and heal good, other than that... use the swabs in your mouth or swish small ice pieces around.

Hope you feel better!

incision on the cheek?? i think it could be bruising cos the surgery itself is rather violent, like plastic surgery with the konking and hitting etc. you'll be fine. taking it that you've swollen to the size of a beach ball, hang in there it'll only last a bit longer. I had the same thing done as well. gargle a lot. brush twice a day (gently). try not to put your food at the back of your mouth to chew (not that you can chew at this point of time). dont walk around too much, for some reason walking hurt my mouth too cos i was so sore. good luck
