Stain on tooth?!

Question:

Stain on tooth?

About 3 days ago I was brushing my teeth at night and noticed a brown squarish spot on my tooth. It didn't look like a hole, but I started freaking out because I brush 2 times a day + floss and I couldn't believe that I might have a cavity. Especially since I just visited the dentist 7 months ago. Today I woke up and it was gone. No brown spot anymore and I still see no sign of a hole. Looks like a flat surface. So was this just a stain? I didn't know stains could last 3 days like that. I mean I scrubbed that tooth for 20 minutes the first day I saw it and it wouldn't go away. Hmmm, what do you guys think. BTW, I'm going to the dentist soon anyways, but I thought I would get your opinion first. thanks!

Answers:

Stains aren't always on the surface. Drinking Cofee or Pop/Soda may have induced the stain and over a period of time, your own saliva, as well as the brushing would have penetrated deeply enough to erode the stain that was under the surface.

Keep Brushing, and don't forget to use floride rinse!
