Yes, start with a cleaning and an exam to see exactly what shape they are in. Then work with the dentist to make arrangements to get things taken care of. In the meantime, keep up with daily brushing and flossing, using a flouride rinse and an anti-plaque rinse as well. Better to invest in the time and materials it takes to maintain the teeth than it is to pay for extensive repairs or dentures. You might not be able to afford doing fancy stuff, like braces, but that's no reason to let it all go. Even if you have to forgo some pleasures, it's worth the investment. You can have teeth for a lifetime, after all.

Richard, you couldnt have timed it right. I have good teeth but age wears things down. I noticed the bills my dentist sent me recently.Outrageous!!! So this morning in a few hours I am going to a clinic where the bills are much more respectful. It is called Q. Maybe you should try it also,or something similar.good luck, Max

Start with your oral hygeine (it is NEVER too late). Buy a good antibacterial mouthwash like savicol and good flouride paste like nuetraflur 5000.
Get a exam done with a dentist and start with the most urgent.
Doesn't hurt to ask others who is their dentist and if they are happy with them e.g. manner and cost. as all dentist are not the same.

Oh, I know exactly what your going through. Insurance or not, it is always expensive to go to the Dentist. If you do not make to much at work you could always go to a community clinic where there is a small co pay. The need proof of address, proof of income, and they will more than likely tell you if you qualify or not. Or if you rather get just cleaning and X-rays done at a clinic, and go to a well experience dentist that works too. It will save a lot on small stuff like that. I would go and get filling and stuff done there at the clinic.

There are also dentist schools you can go to and they are pretty cheap and they have instructors help with your dentist work! Also keep up on the hygiene of your teeth, thats really important. I would also look up dentist in your area and get some quotes on how much a filling... silver or white, cleaning, root canal, x-ray, front feeling, and molars would cost. Especially wisdom teeth removal for all four would cost. I know this sounds so time consuming but it's better than paying a whole bunch of money.
