Can I use Sensodyne as my regular toothpaste forever?!

Question: I have sensitive teeth. Nothing wrong with my mouth-no cavities, no gum problems, etc...just sensitive teeth.

I'm a dentist.

Yes you can. Generally though, I am of the view that the fewer chemicals you put into your body (or apply to your body), the better. I would use Sensodyne while you are having sensitivity issues. When it gets better, try coming off the Sensodyne. If it returns, then go ahead and use Sensodyne again.

With tooth sensitivity, a lot of times it subsides on its own. The pulp of the tooth eventually gets wise to the fact that there's an area where it is encountering noxious stimuli, and lays down a protective layer of dentin called "tertiary dentin"--hence eliminating the sensitivity.

Absolutely.
