Wisdom teeth are partially covered by gum?!

Question:

Wisdom teeth are partially covered by gum?

Hi, my wisdom teeth came up a couple years ago when I was pregnant and 25, my bottom two widsom teeth are still partially covered by the gum, is this a problem? I think I need to have them removed, but just dont have the time off from work and from my two year old

Answers:

You need to not think so much about what is happening now, but what could happen later on in life. If at 50 or 60 years old and you have gum disease and bone loss in that area you may have to have not only the wisdom tooth removed but also the 2nd molar in front of it if the gum disease is severe. Think of removing it now as a preventative measure. It is not good to leave them in. They are a major source for bacteria to harbor in because you can't clean all the way down.
