Does having a cold or flu delay wisdom tooth extractions?!
Question: I just came down with the flu. The fever and most of the muscle aches and stuff have passed, but I still have a sore throat, stuffy nose, and am really tired.
I'm scheduled to get my wisdom teeth out next week and am worried that the procedure will be delayed. I'm wondering if anyone's heard of a simple extraction (mine = 2 teeth, and I don't have to be put to sleep or anything) being rescheduled because of a cold or flu? My dentist is away from his office til next week, so I can't ask him, and I can't seem to find anything about this online. I'd rather not have to make the trip in to see him just to be turned away and told to come back later, if I can help it.

If fever persists till your dentist visit postpone the extraction proceedure till you are alright.

some dentists might delay for a flu, but i would ask you particular dentist as soon as you can. for now, assume no delay.
i have heard that it can affect them...
talk to your surgeon -if it's truly influenza, your doctor can prescribe meds to alleviate the symptoms. this has to be done within 3 days of the onset. there is always a doctor covering 24 hrs a day.
Not sure..I had my braces put on when I had a sore throat/cold.
