Can dentist have facial peircings?!


Question: I'm 13 and I want to be a dentist when I grow up, but I want to get my nose peirced. Are dentist allowed to get anything on their face peirced? If not why?

Dentist can have piercing, but you might not get any customers. There are no rules on appearance, but since you will be a professional and people has a persona on what a dentist should be, your piercings might give your patients a wrong impression.

its not hygienic, if you did you'd have to cover with a plaster whilst at work but things may change before you get your career!! i changed my mind over a hundred times and im a beauty therapist now and i wanted to be a midwife at 13 ha!

Sure why not.

to each is own, if you want a peircing get it when your legal. but personally when i go to the dentist if he/she has a facial piercing, i would be uncomfortable. i use to work with doctors and they are all about looking proper.
if dentist is going to be inches away from my face while working in my mouth i dont want to be stareing at a hole in the nose cause they changed their mind when they got older. i also dont want to stare at a hoop, diamond or anything like that. i would imagine there are rules against it also as it could easily be contaminated and lead to numberous infections.
thats just my opinion. as a patient and health care professional.
