Do I have gum disease?!

Question: I will try to be as descriptive as possible...

I think I have 'gum disease' . I am not sure though, but I've thought...

Do your gums ever bleed when you brush your teeth or when you eat hard food? yes
Have you noticed any spaces developing between your teeth? yes
Do your gums ever feel swollen or tender? yes
Do you have persistent bad breath? yes
Do you ever develop sores in your mouth? sometimes

Just some survey I did.

My gums have always been puffy, really badly. they bleed a lot everytime I brush, gentle or not. I have braces, which probably doesn't help at all. This has not just occurred since I've had braces though, I've had puffy, oversized gums as long as I can remember. I often try not to talk, or smile thanks to this problem...

So what do you think? If you think a picture is necessary, fine. I will post one later. I just want to know your opinion. I'm not in need of laughs, I just want someone to help me. Thank you

And if you think I do, where should I go? and say?

How old are you? Are you flossing daily?

If you are going through puberty, then your body is making you more susceptible to gingivitis. Also, if you are NOT brushing 2x a day or flossing once a day then you are not efficiently removing the plaque from your teeth, and your body is responding to this bacteria on your teeth. Your body is sending it's immune cells (through blood) to the site to kill the invading bacteria. This is why there is swelling and bleeding (there is more blood in your "gums").

So, you have gingivitis, and you need to floss everyday and brush twice a day. It should clear up in a week! Also, if you are going through puberty, it may not clear up completely, but will when your puberty has stopped.

Also, as the other person said, it could be caused from medication. But, it is typically the medication that people with epilepsy take.

go to any general dentist.

My opinion is that you should go to a dentist. It doesn't sound like the problem has resolved itself by waiting. If it is gum disease, you want to start treatment as soon as possible. A general dentist will be able to diagnose, recommend treatment, and refer you to a specialist if needed.

You definitely need to see a Dentist, also some medications like Dilantin can cause these reactions with your gums and bleeding and tenderness and more..===
