Where should I go to get my jawbone reconstructed?!

Question:

Where should I go to get my jawbone reconstructed?

I sustained a broken jaw in a fight a couple years back. I went to the doctor and they wired my mouth shut for 6 weeks. Its now two years later and my jaws better but its really deformed where it healed. It really affects my self esteem and quality of life. I was just wondering if theres anything I can do about it. Reconstructive surgery? Do I go to an oral surgeon, reconstructive surgeon, plastic surgeon or what? Any idea on how much I might have to spend to fix this?

Answers:

It is so interesting that you asked this question, because we were learning about this in school, how the general public is not for sure who to contact for certain problems. In my opinion, probably all 3 of these specialties "could" treat your problem with some form of surgery, however, because your jaw is the priority, I would consult an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I honestly do not know how much you would be looking at as far as money.
