Just got braces and an expander!!?!
Question: I just got top and bottom braces plus expanders yesterday and I am 29yrs old. Is it ok to have this all on at the same time? I had overbite so now this expander only lets me close my mouth one way cause I have brackets on the bottom also so when I close my mouth it brings out my lower jaw. My back teeth does not touch at all so therefore I can't chew anything at all.. What can I eat and how long will it be like this? I had trouble eating noodle soup last night, I have trouble swallowing.

There is nothing wrong with having it all at the same time. I had an expander when I was 24 and it was terrible. But you get used to it. Give it about 4-5 days. If after that you are still having problem eating and swallowing then call the orthodontist back. Allow yourself some time and it will be worth it at the end. Good Luck!
i totally had to get what you have except i don't have an overbite.. you just kinda get used to it after about 2 or 3 days it is different for everyone, of course but just practice swallowing by drinking water i hope i helped!!-- oh and soft serve ice cream is good for swallowing too!!
