I know I have a cavity. Can I get rid of it if I brush more?!

Question: I understand the bacteria eats a hole in your tooth, but can't you make it better if you just brush more?

No. Brushing only prevents cavities by reducing bacteria count, food residue and plaque. A cavity is essentially an infected sore in your tooth. The rotten portion has to be removed and the enamel repaired to prevent further damage. Brushing will not repair what damage has been done, and will not do a very good job at preventing more harm since the hole provides such fertile, hard to reach breeding ground for bacteria.

No you cant a cavity is a cavity you need to get it fixed or it will get worse.

no you cant, you have to get it filled before they wanna do a root canal. cavities arent that bad to get filled. it dont hurt. but no a cavity needs to get filled or it will just start to decay and turn your gums black.

If you already have a cavity, brushing can't fix it. You'll have to see the dentist for that!
Brushing more might help keep it from getting worse, though!

No, think about it this way.. will brushing more re-build or re-place the missing tooth structure? it's like hoping that by sweeping the side walk, the cracks will go away.

If it's a tiny minuscule cavity you might be able to have it remineralize by using a toothpaste high in fluoride ( which you can only get with a dentist Rx) but if it's big enough for you to notice it's too late.

A Cavity is the begining of a whole in the tooth.

You can get them fixed by a dentist by to ways. If its not a BIG hole or just a black stain on your tooth you get it cleaned and filled, simple easy and cheap.

if its a hole in your tooth you need a root canal, painfull expensive and about a 2 week precedure.
So just visit your dentist and check it out.

Unfortunately, no. You'll have to go to the dentist.

I don't think you can but you can get rid of the black if you pick at it with something sharp (IE Pin)
That's prob not the best thing to be doing, you should let the dentist do it..
But...
I had a small black spot on my tooth and i was afraid of a cavity cause im a chicken s*** when it comes to needles and drills.
It didn't hurt so i picked at it with a safety pin (sterilized) and scratched the black away. I brushed more and more so it wouldn't come out cause now i had a hole from where the cavity was.. When i went to the dentist for a cleaning he said i had a hole in my tooth where a cavity could form. instead of having to go through the drama with drills and needles all he did was take a high power cleaner spray (its a salt solution sprayed very hard) and sprayed that in the hole to clean it.. then he filled it with white.. No novicane, no needled NO DRILL :)
I was very happy..!
Try it if it doesn't hurt.. of it does then it's too far along!

Nope, My Advice Is To Get To The Dentist, I Just Got A Root Canal Today And Its Not As Bad As Everyone Says.
goodluck.
