Ways to avoid a dry socket after tooth removal?!

Question: It depends on which tooth, but I'm going to assume wisdom, since dry socket mostly accompanies wisdom tooth removal.
DO NOT spit any liquid out of your mouth for at least 48 hours after surgery and keep your gauze packed in the hole and change them when they become too wet. Also, no smoking, brushing or sucking action.

Do not smoke or suck through a straw - really, you are avoiding any action of sucking.
Hope that helps!!
