Question: i am getting braces<sigh> and i need to know before i go how do they put them in my mouth am i put to sleep and if so how do they put me to sleep??

First they will put a cheeker tracker in your mouth. It holds you mouth open the entire time so your lips wont touch your teeth. Be sure to put on some lip gloss before they do this and plenty of it. Then they will dry your teeth. Then apply the glue, then the brackets. Then they will put some kind of light on your teeth to dry the glue after the bracket is put on. Then they will put the wires on. Then after you have picked out the color of your rubber bands, they will apply then to the brackets. When they put the bands on, this is when you will feel the pressure. I would suggest taking 2 advils before you go. But it doesnt really hurt, your teeth and gums will just be a little sore. They only bad part is it will be hard to chew. So eat big before you go. My process took about 2 hours. But I guess it varies depending on your ortho.They will not put you to sleep
you dont get put to sleep at all and they do not hurt ,all you will feel is a little tugging but it dosent hurt at all .dont worry about a thing
They don't put you to sleep nor give you any pain shots because there's no pain :)
They just put cement on... stick them on and boom done.
Your mouth gets sore from keeping your mouth open that long but other than that it's easy :)
nope your wide awake! they basically glue them to your teeth. it takes a little while, and it hurts for a while. but it has to be done. good luck
You aren't put to sleep.
When they put them on me i didn't even know they were putting them on. For ME, it didn't hurt at all, but i am warning you, after you get them at least by the next day they hurt kinda bad and it is easier to break apart your food cuz you teeth hurt REALLY bad. Good Luck!!
well i had them and when they put them on it took about an hour :( but they just cement the barckets and then put them on teeth

Nope your wide awake, because it doesn't hurt! You just have to hold your mouth wide open for about 30 minutes - they may or may not put something in your mouth to hold it open, but they didn't for me. It's really quick and there's no pain! They just put some cement on your teeth, stick the brackets on, put the wire through and then the bands and then you are ready to go. You will feel a little bit uuncomfortable at first, because there is a bulky feeling in your mouth, but there shouldn't be any pain, until you start eating. It felt like I had a rock between my teeth for the first couple of days, so I mainly just ate noodles.
I never found getting my braces tightened hurt either. They didn't feel any different!
And when you get your braces off it's really quick. It only takes about 10-15 minutes. They just melt the glue and pull the brackets off and file the glue off and maybe your teeth a little so they are perfect! And that doesn't hurt either.
Really getting braces is no big deal!
