I just got spacers for my braces and they really hurt. Anyway to make it stop?!

Question: The question pretty much says it all. I've got gym everyday and I have a habit of getting hit in the face.. I figure that might hurt a bit. And I've got midterm exams next week. I have to be able to focus on them and not the throbbing in my teeth. I'm getting the actual braces next Friday too so if you have any advice about that it would be really helpful.

Hey i am in the same postion as you i just got spacers two days agod and on the first day they hurt heaps but now they just hurt when i chew things. I dont take many medicines so i just took two panadols and they were fine they stopped hurting now they just hurt when i chew so just take two panadols and that should work

i don't have spacers but try sucking on ice when they hurt.

the numbzit that people use on babies gums can be used occasionally (like anything that is a medication - read the directions so you don't overdo it). also, just normal tylenol can be of some help. the first is more immediate relief to specific areas though.

Lots and lots of painkillers, but don't overdose them! Folow the instructions for use of the medicine, and only take it when you are in pain. That is really all you can do for the pain, except keeping your mouth healthy to prevent gum and tooth sores in addition to the spacer sores.

Typically, the pain will mostly go away after the first week or so of having the stuff on.

ibprofin will help. soft foods for a few days as well. other then that, it just takes time.

baby oragel works wonders!

i remember having spacers, those sucked. i'm sorry =[ but it feels SO much better when they take them out!
