How often should I take Amoxicillin for my Abscess? [ie. 6hrs? 12hrs? 24hrs?]?!

Question: I was prescribed Amoxicillin by a dental surgeon that I was referred to by my dentist, since my dentist couldn't perform the surgery with the abscess in the way. Due to my age the dental surgeon didn't give me surgery, but instead prescribed me this pill, the amoxicillin.

The prescription says every 12 hours, but people are telling me every 6 hours I should take a dose, but I'm not sure if I should do that. Also, some of my friends & family recommend that I do poke the bubble inside my mouth and let the bacteria drain, which is something I need a professional to answer. Plus, I have an ok metabolism, and from what I hear, your metabolism effects the time it takes to take effect to the bacteria inside.

So...
Should I take the amoxicillin at a faster rate than I'm doing right now [currently:every 12hrs]? Should I poke the bubble and drain the puss? What should I do?

Take the medicine as prescribed-if a doctor tells you some thing medical he knows what he's talking about-have your friends been to medical school? Often our bodies will develop a resistance to antibiotics if not taken properly. Do not poke the abscess or break it unless your in a dental office where they can suck the puss out.You will be risking spread of infection that way.If it does break rinse your mouth with warm salt water every 6 hours or so. You can also rinse with the salt water now to keep the infection from spreading and to help heal it faster.

Take as prescribed.

Leave it alone and follow what it said on the bottle.

people may be getting it mixed up with other penacillins. go with what the bottle says, cause the medicine to work has to be taken at LEAST once a day, so you are good anyhow cause amoxacillin is a stronger antibiotic.

Usually Amoxicillin is taken every 8 hrs (3 times a day until gone).
But I would call your Dentist who prescribed the meds and find out for sure.
Even if the swelling subsides continue with the meds until gone.

Take the amoxicillin every 12 hours, and don't pop the bubble. It's that simple.
