Depends on the type. Mine made it hard to say "ch" for a day or two. Don't worry you get used to it and adjust the movements of your tongue so you can speak which as much clarity as before.
Your voice will be a little different at first. For me it was kind of hard to pronounce 'rrr' and 'chh' because to make those sounds you have to press your tounge on the roof of your mouth, which is where the expander is. It doesn't last for long though, after you get comfortable with it you start talking normally again.
