Monroe/modonna piercing?!

Question:

Monroe/modonna piercing?

Hi, I got the monroe piercing a week ago today. It was a spur of the moment decision and since then I have realized it is not what I wanted to do. Stupid on my part, I know. Anyways I do not want the gum/.teeth erosion that is very common with these piercings and have thought about taking it out. I have been told in the past it is not good to take them out though while they are healing because if they get infected there is nothing keeping it open to drain and it will end up very nasty and not heal well. I would really like to take it out today, now...lol. But not sure if I should. It is healing very well, no infection but the back of the labret is bugging me it is so tight tomy lip and like I said I do not want gum erosion. Is is safe to take it out today...???? (Been exactly a week since I got it done)...
Thanks so much for your help

Answers:

First, GOOD for you for realizing that it was a mistake to get that piercing!! I wish more people did that.

Certainly, you can take it out now. Just keep the area very clean with alcohol and peroxide. If you see any redness, swelling, or feel any pain, see a doctor right away.
