Braces AND Cavity?!

Question: Ok, some of you may have seen or answered my question about getting braces. And yeah I got them today! And it hurts!
Can anybody out there help me?When will the pain go away?
And the orthodontist said there's a cavity too.I've never had a cavity before!I'm freaking out!I heard they drill holes in your cavity?Does it hurt?Cause the orthodonist said it's pretty big, like 0.5 inches big and it's on the side of my teeth!I'm getting it filled tomorrow and then I'll get my bottom braces.
Will it hurt more especially with the full set of braces?
I am soooo scared, especially about the cavity!
And I'm 12 years old so I can't cry.
HELP ME!

I'm obsessed with getting teeth that is perfect.

I got braces a few years ago, it rocked. Just eat lots of liquids for the first few days.

I have not had a cavity either until a few months ago. It is really nice though! The needle is huge, that's the scariest thing about it. But if you close your eyes, you won't feel a thing.

Full sets of braces hurt a lot. If he mentions anything about rubber bands, be afraid. Be very afraid. They burn!

ouch

pain usually goes away after the first week ive had them for about 3 years now and the drill it aint painful because they numb your mouth only a bit of pressure so u should be okay

Braces do hurt, be sure to take Advil or Tylenol and it will be gone in a few days. Cavities don't hurt, they will numb the tooth and you won't feel a thing. If the cavity was 1/2 an inch you'd be missing several teeth, it's probably 1/2 a millimeter (VERY small). He'll put the drill in there long enough to clean the area and then just brush in the resin for the filling, put a little light there, and your tooth is fully repaired. Doesn't hurt a bit!

Um i HAVE SOME cavity's and i am 11 years old to be exact
i Have 8 any ways it doesn't hurt so much unless you Have really weak teeth .. that's a different story any ways just go to the dentist and it will be over before you know it ..

If the cavity isn't too deep, the process will not be too painful. In fact, it will be a minor drill and clean and fill-in process and you'll hardly feel anything.

The pain from braces should go away in 14-15 days. If ir doesn't, consult your dentist for some painkillers or something.

when i got my braces in the pain only lasted a couple of days.....!!

well cavity filling dont relly hurtbut when they put some cold thing on it it feel s weirdand its not somethins so bad so dont freak out oh and take my advice dont tell them to put it to sleep of its with that big shoot cus its big but it will be o.k dont worry

I don't know about braces so I can't help there but I can help with cavitiess. Unfortuantly I have a cavity in between almost everything single tooth in my mouth (not jokeing). I was scared to death when I got the first one filled but after you've had like 10 done, you get used to it. It doesn't hurt to get it drilled although the initial shot(s) to numb your mouth arnt all that fun. The shot's are really fast and numb you really well. (Don't be afraid to ask for another one if you can still feel any sort of pain when they put the little metal piece around your tooth...I almost always need an extra shot) Also, I've found the spot where they're drilling feels very, very cold. My advice, is to take your mp3 player (or some other player) with you and do your best to fall asleep during the procedure. It makes you a lot less nervous and honestly it can get very boring sitting there is such an uncomfortable position. Otherewise don't worry. The worst part about getting a cavity was having to listen to my mom yell at me for not taking care of my teeth properly. :)

My daughter had braces for her top teeth and yes they were uncomfortable for a little while but from what she told me this wears off. Don't be afraid of the dentist their there to help you and once the treatment has finished I am sure, like my daughter you will have a perfect set of teeth.I am sure your mum and dad will support you should you have any doubts.

Whoa slow down and breath!

The pain should go away in about a week or less. After that the only time pain should return to your braces is when you have them tightened. It didn't hurt instantly when mine used to be tightened, but for the next few days I would be eating soft foods because it really hurt. It has to be done though alot, so you'll get used to it and the pain won't be as big deal as you thought it had been before. But I don't know the reason you have your braces so it might be the complete opposite.

Yea, they drill holes but its not a big deal really. Use laughing gas if you don't want to feel the numbing needles. I don't need laughing gas because my dentist told me to close my eyes the first time I did it and he said "I have water going in your mouth and if you open them, then this water will get in your eyes." well at first i felt a small prick but not as bad as biting your tongue, actually not as bad as anything I can think of, it was pain free from that point on, well except the drill was driving me crazy!

The drill does make you feel tense (well for me I should say it does) because you can hear it grinding isn't your teeth. I had mine done with braces BUT never when they were new, if they don't hit the teeth with brackets on them, then it shouldn't even hurt half as much as it did when your braces were out on.

Btw I'm also getting a cavity taken care of this week so your not alone =)

Good Luck!

It won't hurt at all because they will give you novacaine. Then you won't feel anything at all! :)
And yes, it will go away. Take advil or aleve or any other pain reliever and eat some soft foods. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

P.S. if you want to cry, then you can cry :)
