Braces :( ??!

Question: I have had metal in my mouth for almost half of my life. My teeth were absolutely repulsive when I first started getting work done on them (Age 7). First came the bottom expander, then came the top expander, then came the bottom retainer, and then came the top retainer.. so on and so forth until at age 10 I got all my braces on. I have had my bottom ones on longer than my tops. My teeth have been really starting to look excellent, but my orthodontist keeps adding months and months on. I was told several times "next month they are coming off" for half a year. My bottom teeth are near perfect, my top look straight but when I run my tongue across them they still feel a little crooked. I am starting to get really fed up. My boyfriend just got his off, and now I feel even uglier.
Is there a way I can tell when my braces are going to come off, because, clearly my orthodontist has no idea.

HELP!! Thanks- If you need details just ask and i will post more!! <3

I went through a lot of the same stuff with my mouth. And believe me the wait is worth it, you are going to be so happy with your smile after they come off. Don't feel like your orthodontist has no idea about when they come off, mine did/said the same thing. They don't want to tell you a date and then you get your hopes up and then it has to be a couple months more and your upset about it. Just ask your orthodontist how they are coming along and maybe you can pick up hints from him/her about a time.

i have braces and my teeth straightend out preety fast. but you have to keep them on so your teeth will stay straight. it helps if you brush your teeth every day. 2 times a day. dont eat hard things like rock candy. laffy taffy stuff is bad to. if you eat popcorn you have to take the cernel things off your gums or else skin will grow over them. that hurts.

Well, I'm not a dentist hun, but I had braces too...
I had them only for two years, which was really surprising 'cause my teeth were very repulsive too. But I found that my teeth looked and felt alright, even after 2 short years. I'd thought I'd have to have them for longer, but they're OK now.
Maybe you should try another dentist, you know, to have a different professional opinion. I think that's be the best you can do now.
Good luck! And I hope they'll come off soon!

look, they come off when they come off, get over it.
