Start with ice, 20 min on and 20 off. Sleep in an elevated position. You can also alternate your pain medication with Ibuprofen which is an anti-inflammatory. Swelling is going to happen whether you like it or not, you can only help what is going to happen, not prevent it. Good luck!

I would begin taking whatever meds the surgeon perscribed but other than that- ice, ice, ice. This sounds odd buth the best make shift ice pack is a bag of frozen peas. The peas in the bag will easily mold to the shape of your face to be more easily kept in place. Keep ice on for 20 minutes a couple of times each hour. Don't eat the peas afterwords though, they'll likely be pretty mushy- yuk!

Take what the surgeon told you to.Then try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water(sounds gross but it makes the swelling go down) it worked for me and I had all 4 taken out at the same time.
