Question:

I just had an apcoectomy (gum surgery) on the 12th. It is currently the 23rd.?

Well I had 5 stitches in the bottom of my mouth. I was not allowed to eat anything hard or chewy, so I followed through with it and didn't. Well a few of the stitches came loose and recently came out. So I have 2-3 stitches still in. My mouth looks fine and feels ok. I go the 27th for a checkup. Do they normally use dissolving stitches or ones they take out? Should I contact the Oral Surgeon before Wednesday?

Answers:

It depends on the doctor, which type they use. Not all dentits or surgeons use the disolvable ones. As long as there is no bleeding or infection, you have nothing to worry about. If you'd feel better call on Monday, or even today. They likely have an answering service that can get you in touch with the doc.
