Braces Scared Help?!

I just went for my consultation appointment a few weeks ago.
What they do depends on the amount of time they have to spend with you. They will do a basic examination of your teeth, just looking with mirrors and stuff. They will do an X-ray of your entire jaw. Using this information will help them diagnose you and decide if you need orthodontic treatment now, later, or if you even need it at all. They will explain to you everything they plan to do and all appliances they plan to put in your mouth. If they have time they might make impressions of your teeth and take diagnostic records. If they don't do this at your consultation they will do it at a future appointment. Based on your diagnosis you will either a) make another appointment to get spacers or another appliance, b) be referred to another doctor such as a periodontist or other to do additional work such as pulling teeth, etc, or c) if you don't need orthodontic treatment just then you will be told to wait a bit and come back in a certain amount of time. Also your ortho will discuss with you/your parents the financial side of things and decide on a payment option right for you.
There is nothing to be scared of! Trust me! I'm getting my braces on the 25, and spacers on the 23. It's nothing to be worried about. As far as colors go, stay away from white and yellow (which make your teeth look stained and food stains show up on white), and brown (look like coffee/smoking stains). I would suggest blue or red or purple or just plain silver if you would rather not attract attention to your mouth.

at the conceltation they dont really do anything they jsut explain what they are gonna do and i think take x-rays. you should NOT EVER EVERget pink( they make your gums look nasty) white( they make your teeth look gray or yellow).. and i think that's it. have fun. =P
Try to get a clear or neutral color. Don't be scared.
I personally always went for the light blue...
usually they wont put them on the same day as the conceltation...
If you're going for a consultation, you are not getting your braces- you (or your parents) are getting a price, and idea of how long the process will take, and possibly measurements of your mouth.
Sometimes you need different apparatus before you get the braces, and you will find that out too. I had to wear this thing for 3 months to widen the roof of my mouth.
Don't be afraid - braces really aren't bad at all. I'd stay away from caramel and popcorn, but that's about it.
If you can, get the clear plastic braces- you barely notice them. If all you can get is the metal, don't sweat it. And if you're getting metal ones and want to know what color bands to get - let your mood dictate that. I used to get alternating red and green at Christmas, orange around Halloween, and whatever I felt like the rest of the time.
