Braces themselves don't stain your teeth. The part of the tooth that is not covered by the brackets are exposed to different foods and drinks that discolor the tooth. Then, when the braces come off, the part that was covered appear more white. All you need to do is get your teeth cleaned well before you get your braces on, get regular cleanings and keep them clean at home.....the braces will be fine and you'll have beautiful straight, white teeth

Most dentists also do whitening after braces are removed...you can also use whitening systems found in stores.

If you clean you teeth properly you will not get any marks, what happens is that if you don't clean properly you'll end up with white marks where the braces have been.

braces dont cause stains, but if you arent a good brusher and leave plaque on your teeth, the teeth can start to decalcify
Decalifying is the first stage of decay. When the braces come off then you will have white chalky spots on the teeth.
If you have good brushing you should be ok

if you brush your teeth well then mo. brush 2-3 times daily
also make sure you use good toothpaste. mabye your orthodontist can provide you with some flouride toothpaste. mine did it works really well

Yes and no. If you do not take good care of your teeth while the braces are on it can cause normal staining of your teeth to be extremely heavy except where the brackets are covering. When the braces come off you end up with darker colored teeth with white areas where the brackets were or cavities around where the brackets were. As long as you practice very good oral hygiene while your braces are on you do not need to worry about this. However, it is a good idea to use a whitening toothpaste or whitening mouthrinse while wearing your braces to help prevent normal staining from soda/tea/coffee.

it's not the braces that leave marks on your teeth, just that if you don't brush them thouroughly it may leave a white mark where the brace has been
xx

No it's not true.
If you don't keep good oral hygiene whilst you have braces and your teeth get stained around the brackets then you'll have the original colour under where the brackets were.
But braces won't stain, they're bonded with clear glue.

I had braces when I was about 12 for nearly 2 years and was told all about the possibility of staining. I used a special little toothbrush for a while which is used after brushing normally just around the square parts, but it trailed off after a while and I just brushed my teeth thoroughly twice a day as normal and my teeth are fine. Just take good care of them and you have nothing to worry about =)
