Question: I have to get a root canal next week does it hurt?

Answers: I have to get a root canal next week does it hurt?

No, usually you get local anesthesia. Then your dentist will drill on your thooth and remove the pulp. The pulp is the soft tissue that contains veins and nerves. Be aware that removal of the pulp on your tooth or teeth will kill your tooth forever, although it will stay in place. Here are the most common steps involved on a root canal.
Here's how your tooth is saved through treatment:

1. First, an opening is made through the crown of the tooth.
2. An opening is made through the crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber.
3. The pulp is then removed. The root canal(s) is cleaned and shaped to a form that can be filled.
4. The pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, enlarged and shaped.
5. Medications may be put in the pulp chamber and root canal(s) to help get rid of germs and prevent infection.
6. A temporary filling will be placed in the crown opening to protect the tooth between dental visits. Your dentist may leave the tooth open for a few days to drain. You might also be given medicine to help control infection that may have spread beyond the tooth.
7. The pulp chamber and root canals are filled and sealed.
8. The temporary filling is removed and the pulp chamber and root canal(s) are cleaned and filled.
9. In the final step, a gold or porcelain crown is usually placed over the tooth. If an endodontist performs the treatment, he or she will recommend that you return to your family dentist for this final step.
10. The crown of the tooth is then restored.
Good luck!

Well I got four teeth pulled out and yes it was sore but it will get better

yes, not while they're doing it though, it just is sore for a few days after

I had it once and it is not as bad as people make out as long as the anaesthetic is good. One of my roots wouldn't numb though and it took five attempts on seperate occasions.

No it does not hurt. They give you drugs so you can't feel the drilling. You will be fine. I had it done , and was scared to death. I found out after it was over that it was no big deal.

that's what the anesthetic is for.

Don't be shy! Just let your dentist know if you are having discomfort.

YES. I' sorry to tell it to you like that, but I don't want to be one of those soft people that answer your question and say,
" No, it's feel un-painful it's over before you know it, don't worry sweetie."

Because sure then you get all happy, and thats great, but the answerer knows it does really hurt. I don't want you to get there thinking it will be really un-painful and then realize we lied. So i'm going to tell it to you like it is. It does hurt, some spots more then others, there is a strategy to ease the pain a little bit, laughing gas, squeeze somthing, thing somthing good, count, recite the alphabet over and over.
Good luck.

No it doesnt hurt. Its more uncomfortable than anything.Youll see why
