How do you keep teeth white that are caps? Ordinary whitening toothpaste doesn&#!

Question: I'm sorry to say that you cannot whiten crowns (caps). Even if you went to your dentist and had professionl tooth whitening this would not work on crowns.
The only way to improve the colour of them is to have them replaced.

i use dental whitening gel....stronger than toothpaste and gets the stain outta your caps.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you'll have to ask your dentist. Bleaching toothpastes, strips and gels that work on teeth usually don't work on caps.

You cannot whiten crowns or 'caps' you have to get them replaced with a lighter color.

Other than just grit and grime. . .the color is chosen for the crown and they are made by baking porcelain over cast metal. They are not porous like natural tooth enamel is, so if it is a 'whiter' tooth that you want, and a dental cleaning could not buffer it up to a lighter shade. .. you will need a new crown.

If the crown has been on for multiple years and has coffee or tea staining then a whitening gel or strip may take some of that off, slightly. However, for the most part caps do not whiten. If you want a whiter cap you would probably need a new crown or there has been some talk that Lumineers can be placed on top of crowns, but I have not seen this done so I do not know what it would look like. Many people now get crowns and then decide later to whiten their teeth, leaving their crowns yellow looking.
