Question for anyone with metal braces?!

Question: Ok, so I know that braces straighten your teeth to where they need to be but have to be kept on a long time in that position because teeth will go back crooked. My question is.... do braces take a long time to get your teeth straightened up? I heard that braces straightened your teeth up in only a couple months. How long does it usually take? My teeth arent bad at all. Just a little off

Even though you might noticing changes after getting the braces on in 2 weeks, your teeth and bite aren't completely straight until only about 2 years in braces. THe average time to have braces for everyone is around 2 years.

it depends on how bad your teeth are.
my sister had bad teeth so she had to have
them on for about two or more years.
and one of my good friends he had to have
them on for a while to it was a few years.

Braces can also fix on over bite/under bite. That takes a couple years .

your teeth will move a lot during the process depending on how bad your teeth are.
Ask your dentist about other straightening options or the types of braces like speed ones or something.

Usually the process takes a while but i've had mine for two years and getting them off in two weeks.
Also just because they straighten your teeth doesn't mean you get them off, it also has to stay in that position along using a retainer to keep them there

My boyfriend, who is a dentist, once told me (I was thinking about getting braces but I'd only need them for cosmetic reasons and I'd need lots done so meh whatever) that you take however long your orthodontist tells you it will take (say 2 months) then add another 2-6 months minimum. I haven't known anyone who's had braces for less than 2 years, but it depends on what/how much you need done.
The other thing that I never knew about braces until my dr bf (hehe) told me was that braces won't fix the alignment of your teeth permanently if you don't wear a retainer at night, or those clear, plastic teeth-coverings (not mouth-guards, they're basically invisible and I forget what they're called) for the rest of your life, because teeth like to go back to where they originally were, apparently. Just something to know!
