Dentist fears & home remedies?!

Question:

Dentist fears & home remedies?

Okay, I'm scared poopless of the dentist.. But I'm pretty sure I need a million fillings and root canals. My teeth don't really bother me, sometimes when I eat sweets or chew ice they can twinge here and there.. But nothing that effects me badly or regularly.. But on my last visit I was told I had over 11 cavities and needed 4 root canals.... I've had one root canal and 1 filling in my entire life and I had a panic attack, cried and threw up on both accounts.. I am allergic to different types of novicane and pain killers I think, they seem to make me sick..

Are there any homeopathic or home-remedies to aid my teeth or to cease the decay of my teeth? I am very vain and do not want to be toothless.. But I also never want to enter a doctors office again.. Also, does anyone know of dentists that put their patients completely under? How expensive is this? I have IEHP, can my insurance cover any of these expenses?

[*note: I am pregnant and won't be having and dental work done -if i have any done- until after the baby is born -sometime in late Sept. or early Oct.- if that information is vital.]

Answers:

It is not healthy for you to have bad teeth. The bacteria from the cavities enters into the blood stream and causes all kinds of problems and not healthy for infant either.

I too use to be totally petrifed of dentist because I was abused by a child dentist at age of 5. It did something mentally so that novicane no longer had an effect.

I found a lady dentist and explained my situation to her. She felt bad for me and assured me that I need not fear her or her nurses. I had no choice and knew that I would have to bite the bullet cause I was having pain. I had 3 root canals in a row and was very sick from the infection which caused so much pain. I couldn't believe that the novicane was working.

she filled teeth and a little at a time I managed to have all my teeth done. You must put those terrible fears behind you.

They are nothing but overrated fears that is hurting you more than getting dental work done. Believe me you don't want the nerves to start acting up, the pain will drive you out of your head when it starts to kick in.

I'm not trying to scare you, for you are already scared. I'm saying we need to grow up and act more like adults and stop being so scared. Their are children in hospitals that have to have painful test done and treatment on a daily basis. They manage to be such troopers.

Find a nice female dentist that accepts your insurance and explain to her your fears. She will take it slow and easy unlike men dentist can be so rough.

Just take small steps at a time get through one visit at a time. Then soon enough the work is done and all you have to do is go in every 6 months for check ups.

I promise you will feel like the whole world has lifted off your shoulders.

One more thing take in a portable music player and listen to your favorite relaxing music, and it drowns out any drills and annoying noise that may trigger anxiety. And since you too suffer anxiety /panic attacks make sure you do not take in any caffine, coffee, soda or sugars before hand. that includes orange juice. All these feeds anxiety.
