Unless you have a bleeding problem it is a bit over the top to have to keep the gauze in for an hour. As long as the bleeding has stopped then you can take the gauze out. Be careful eating while you are numb as you can bite your lip,cheek and tongue.
Don't eat anything to challenging something quite soft and take it easy today.
