Are braces really all that bad?!
Question: I'm getting my spacers tomorrow to prepare for braces, which means I'll be getting braces soon. From what I can tell, braces are like hell... are they really all that bad? I'm getting the porcelain ones so you'll hardly be able to see them... but still. Are they really all that bad, or do people just say that because they want to freak you out and feel bad for themselves?

im with ya. I got my spacers a week ago and I got my braces today. At 1st, spacers hurt to get them on and then you dont feel anything right after it. Then about 2 hours later you will feel so sore and will just want to shove a pillow in your mouth. After a couple days with the spacers it wont hurt anymore. Youll just have to eat soft foods. I ate yogurt and ice cream and stuff but in the morning, if you want something that wont hurt, try a muffin or something. But when you get the braces on, its a long process that doesnt hurt when you get them on, but after it feels a little sore. I got mine on this morning and it kinda hurts but its worth it in the end. they r not that bad. the worst part is the first day, your teeth r really sore. its kinda hard to eat, but u get used to it. u will be fine!!! i hope i helped!!! :)
No way, they aren't that bad at all. When you get them, they start hurting like an hour after you get them.. that's some serious pain..but then after about a week the pain will go away, and you will slowly start to be able to eat hard foods.. they aren't bad at all.. I don't even feel them.

Braces aren't that bad, after a couple weeks you get used to them being there and don't even notice. The only times it hurt are right after they tighten them. The people who say that they're horrible are probably the ones who had to wear the headgear when they got braces, which I've heard hurts a lot and is uncomfortable. On that issue I wouldn't know since I didn't have to wear the headgear, but if you're getting porcelain ones I don't think they'll have you wear it either.
they realy aren't that bad..trust me.and 3-4 yrs of your life is a SMALL portion of your life.....and when you get them off you can show off a sexy smile!!!
mmm they're alright. it might hurt a little at first and feel uncomfortable but you get used to them. They only hurt during the appointments and maybe a few days after but during the weeks in between there shouldnt be any problems. I did cry once at the orthodontist because they were putting a bracket on my very back tooth (this was after like a year of braces) and THAT hurt. but thats the only time i remember it being really painful. i ve have them off now for 2 years (i HAD braces for 2 years) and even tthough im glad im done with everything im but also glad that i had them.
