Canker sores???!

Question: Could I get canker sores from brushing my teeth with baking soda?

Answers: Could I get canker sores from brushing my teeth with baking soda?

NO!!!If anything, brushing your teeth with baking soda is much safer then using toothpaste, as the main ingredient of toothpaste is derived from nuclear waste (flouride). Any way, if you are having this problem, think about your diet. Are you getting all of the vitamins and minerals that you need; are you drinking water on a regular basis? Do you eat several small portions of food throughout your day, or do you eat only once or twice? Your saliva is a weak form of acid, and if you are hungry, but you have been overriding your bodies need to eat every few hours, your mouth will salivate and your gums and other mouth parts will pay the price. If there is no food, the saliva can effect your teeth, gums, tongue, and cheecks. Also, if you have any teeth that are jagged, or any over bite or under bite, you could be biting your own cheeks and tongue when you talk and not even know it. This happened to me all the time for years until I finally overcame my emberassment and had my mouth worked on by a good dentist. Over six months later, and over $5,000 worth of work, I no longer get canker sores. I used to get them all the time. Also, smoking can cause them in the cheeks, because when you suck on a cigarette, you are causing you teeth to rub up against your cheeck, causing the skin to rupture, and leaving it open to infection. I used to smoke, and ever since I quite, guess what, no more sore checks! Godd luck, if all else fails, see a DR. What ever happened to the trip you were gonna take? are you atill going out of town?see you later........Oh, I almost forgot, one more thing my DR. told me when I was getting canker sores really badly....Stress!!!!!try to relax if you can, maybe take a bath, get up before any other person in your house, turn on some quiet soft music, light a candle, and soak in a hot tub of bubbles! or maybe thats not your thing. Try going out for a walk every day at the same time, it will help to release indorfin into your bloodtream and make you feel good. Also, try just sitting quietly everyday for two to five minutes and think about nothing. It works!!!!

The precise cause of canker sores is unknown, so theoretically, yes. Anything that would cause stress on the tongue or the gums could possibly cause a canker sore. Brushing your teeth with baking soda sounds really weird and I don't know why you would do it, but my guess is that there is definitely potential for it to cause canker sores.

no, a canker sore comes from the inside out. not the other way around. i use the arm-n-hammer tooth paste and i don't get canker sores.

I never have and I brush everyday with baking soda. Canker sores are caused by a virus or stress. Try reducing your stress and see if it helps. Also wash your mouth with salt water 2-3 times a day and try lysine to keep the sores under control. I get them all the time but I can't eat food so my body is stressed all the time and undernourished. This causes mine. The Dr. gives me medication for mine.

Gum disease treatment is significant to stop the progression of gum disease. Symptoms of gum disease include red gums, sore gums, swollen gums, bleeding gums, gums pulling away from your teeth, loose teeth, sensitive teeth, halitosis, and bite changes among others. There are treatments that would help stop the proliferation of the disease. Treatments may be only available from the dentist or home treatment could likewise be possible.
