Post wisdom teeth?!

Question:

Post wisdom teeth?

When I want to drink or eat something after the surgery, do I need to take out the cotton gauzes in the mouth first or just eat with them in?

Answers:

Hi,

Are you talking about an extraction taking place at a general dental practice or at a hospital?

I work at a general dental practice and we advise patients to keep the gauze in their mouth for 20 minutes after the surgery, and replace with a clean one if bleeding continues.

It could be different if you have it extracted at a hospital, though, but I am not sure.

Personally, I would take out the gauzes before eating and drinking, but that is a personal opinion and I advise you to ask your dental surgeon for exact intructions.

Keep smiling.
