Has any one dealt with a wisdom tooth taking years to come in?!

Question: I have been dealing with the same wisdom tooth since the age of 17. Now 27 its, again, showing signs of it coming in due to the pain of and the gum being tender. I can clearly see half the tooth while the other half is still covered by the gum.

I feel your pain! My wisdom teeth have been slloooolwy coming in since I was 18!! Basically the pain your feeling is teething pain just like a baby. Sometimes I use ambesol when it hurts real bad, or truthfully, putting pressure on it makes it hurt less for me anyway so I chew on a whole pickle and I even use my neices frozen teething ring! LOL If the pains too bad or it seems to be shifting your other teeth then its time to go to a dentist. Otherwise, you've reverted back to your infancy and your just gonna have to suck it up! LOL Good luck!

The pain is likely not from the tooth "coming in", but due to pericoronitis--an infection in the gum flap covering the tooth.
Warm saline rinses may resolve the infection, but I think you've given it adequate chance to come in, and if this is a recurrent problem it's probably time to have the tooth taken out.

I ACTUALLY DEALT WITH THE SAME THING, BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE THE TOOTH PULLED, YOU CAN GO TO THE DENTIST, AND THEY WILL CUT THE SKIN OVE THE TOOTH SO THAT IT CAN GROW OUT, SOMETHING ABOUT THE SKIN BEING TOO THICK, AND THE TOOTH CAN PUSH THROUGH.. HOPE THIS HELPS..
