Artificial Teeth....?!

Question: I have a crown on my front tooth. i got infection in it 3 months back. a root canal was done. it was fixed. not the infection is back again. im desperate, i dont want to be going to the dentist every 3 months with the painful operations, and pulling out the crown etc.

i want to get rid of the tooth, and the infection.

if i pull the tooth, what kind of cosmetic technique would i have the option of? what techniques do dentists have for artificial teeth?.

does the artifical teeth look real? and does it feel normal?

You have several options (in order from least expensive to more expensive): 1) Get a second opinion. 2) Get the tooth pulled, and have a "flipper" made to replace it. A "flipper" is a removable device made kind of like a partial denture. The only down side is that you have to remove it to eat. 3) Get the tooth pulled, and have a bridge made. A bridge is made kind of like a crown. It involves the two teeth on either side of where the space would be after removing the tooth. There is a cap, a porcelain tooth to replace the extracted tooth, and another cap--all connected. This is a non-removable, permanent piece. I have one of these, and have had it for almost 20 years with no problem. 4) Get the tooth pulled, and get an implant. This is a very expensive and time consuming procedure. It takes at least six months to be completely done with the procedure because you have to allow for healing time before the next part of the process can be done. You won't have to bother the other two teeth as with a bridge, but it actually is a surgical procedure. This will probably look more natural, but like I said, is way expensive and time consuming. Hope all this helps. And good luck.

People say they look normal and feel normal that goodness they have good technology nowdays back then they used to use wood, cows teeth, procelian. That's the reson that George Washington like never smiled.

I hope you get rid of the infection or a nice tooth. G-LUCK!

You can get a tooth implant, yes they do look real, don't know how it feels but I would think it would be more real than a partial, I would not recommend that, after a while they ware down your other teeth. Think an implant is a little expensive though, but if you have the money, it would be way more worth it. Good luck on what ever you decide.

You could have a bridge done. They will create a fake tooth to fill in the gap, and they will match the color of your existing teeth. If the person doing the coloring and glazing is good, you won't notice the difference. Also if the dentist is good you won't notice much in your mouth, it should almost feel natural. It may take a few days to get used to, but like I said it should start to be less and less noticeable.

Implant-the only way to feel natural
