Where are teeth stored before they come up??????!

Question:

Where are teeth stored before they come up??????

Answers:

Believe it or not the at the time an embryo is 5 to 6 weeks old (5-6 weeks into a pregnancy) there is early tooth development. Long story short is that the teeth start as "buds" in the gum tissue and you will have all of them by the time you are born. These buds develop into teeth at the appropriate time, starting with the growth of the crown of the tooth first. The crown is the part you actually see in your mouth, then the root (that hold the teeth in the bone) begins to grow after. The reason why wisdom teeth (third molars) are often extracted at a fairly young age is so that the dentist only has to remove the crown (top) of the tooth since the root isn't fully formed. So believe it or not, your teeth are all there even though you can't see them. Hope that helps!
