What kind of doctor should i become?!

Question: I am not sure what i like "per say". But i do like helping people, and i really want to be become a doctor of some sort. I am not sure what kind though. I try taking test to see what i like but, i think i always mess them up, or over think them, lol. I basically have no life anymore, because all i do is school, so i don't really have hobbies anymore. I also like science, although i am not that great at it (B in honors biology, but i get more at of the class than my grade shows). I am good a math.
At first i wanted to be a neurologist, then a pediatrician, then a cadiosurgeon, then an orthodontist, and right now i like oral surgeon, but i am starting to not like if because it seems a tedious with just pulling out wisdom teeth everyday, idk though, i think i have to research it more.
Of, course, this is if i even make it to med school, i am a sophomore in high school.
I like volleyball, and helping people, is all i got right now....pretty sad, but please help, thnks

Your next decision is a good college with strong basic sciences. You're overthinking the career choice too early, and you don't have enough schooling under your belt to have an idea what suits you best.
If you're good with people and have a head for business, private practice may be for you. This may be more important than medicine vs. dentistry. It's usually easier to have a GPA high enough to get into a U.S. dental school than medical school, so practical considerations about where you may get accepted may also be a consideration.
Oh, and I decided to try for dental school in the middle of my junior year--of COLLEGE!

Good luck,
Steve Bornfeld, DDS

The best money is in cosmetic surgery or obgyn surgeon. Be ready for years of serously hard schooling.

I had a friend who had this similiar problem. He was in dental school and in his residency. He ended up working in oral surgery and hated it. The doctors were too intense, stressed, and overly tired by the end of the day. He know is an Endodontist. My daughter currently is his dental assistant and she even wishes she were an endodontist. The overhead is low, you don't have labs to deal with with crowns, and retainers, you don't have impressions, and patients are average are seen two or three times. He loves the field and is extremely happy. If you like to take care of people, the majority of the people you see are in extreme pain, and are thankful for being seen and treated for they almost always have immediate relief......hope this helps.
