Knowledge of dental hygiene field?

Knowledge of dental hygiene field?!??!?
I'm reading across some answer and people say that dental hygienists don't make good money, but to my knowledge they make 60k a year! & I've also came across people saying that it's hard to find a job, when its a field dying for workers.. whats up with people? What is your knowledge of this field?

Here in the New York City area, the average salary for dental hygienists is $35 per hour.. That's easily $60K+ a year before taxes.

I don't know about other places in the country though.
