Is it really necessary to get your...?!

Question: teeth cleaned (@ the dentist) twice a year? (If you take good care of them @ home).

Answers: teeth cleaned (@ the dentist) twice a year? (If you take good care of them @ home).

Yes! When you brush and floss you are only removing soft, sticky plaque you can not remove the hard deposits that everyone gets on their teeth. Also, you need to see your DDS twice a year just to check for cavities, bone loss, gum disease, cancer screening, nerve problems, etc. It is good to check these out at least once a year. If you wait until you develop pain or irritation the problem has probably been brewing for a while and could have been prevented from getting too bad. I hope you continue to see your DDS twice a year!

People went for thousands of years without it.

But even if you take good care, some people have teeth that like to get cavities. So, no, it isn't always necessary. But if you are one of the people who tend to have problems, you want to be able to catch them quick.

if you care about your teeth you will and you should always take really good care of them

Yes, because stuff builds up on them that only cleaning can scrape off. You don't want gum disease.

not necessarily, you can go for a regular check ups.

I didnt go to them until I was 13, and now I hate it. I was a lot happier before. My teeth were fine =[
Have you ever noticed that dentists barely ever have anything nice to say?! =[

Oh well, whatever.

Yes it is. That appointment is so much more than just a quick cleaning. They scale your teeth which gets that stuck on plaque off. They probe, which is measuring the pocket around the tooth. The dentist doesn't make these appointments for the heck of it...they are very beneficial to the health of your teeth.
