Are there any whitening treatments for peope with braces?!

Question: Over the counter stuff?

Don't try it please. Your teeth will only whiten where the enamel is showing. No whitening/bleaching agents will work underneath where your brackets are cemented. So when the braces come off, you'll have discoloured circles under where each bracket was cemented. Then it's even harder to bleach and get an even colour. Don't do it :) Trust me on this one.

You should wait till you get them off. You are asking for problems bleaching portions of you teeth.

If you bleach while the braces are ON, you will see the outline of the brackets on your teeth when the brackets come off!!! The entire surface where the bracket was will be more yellow than the surfaces that were in contact with the bleach. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT????

Also, if your teeth have NOT FULLY ERUPTED, the bleach will not have any effect on the part of the tooth that does not show yet! Your teeth will be hideous when they finish erupting when you have a yellow stripe at the gumline.

Un-Cola is right, the supports where braces are attached will cover areas that can't be bleached and then when you take them off, you'll have a bigger contrast between the covered and uncovered areas that will take a whole lot longer to blend.

I recommend you save up for a clinical supervised procedure, doing it six months down the road and not regretting it is better than doing the one at home and not being happy with it not to mention it'll cause your teeth to absorb stains if you drink or eat and not be very careful about keeping your teeth clean and rinsed.

Even with the procedure that'll be done at a clinic, you'll need something like a week of home based fine touches period where you'd try and avoid staining your teeth when they're the most receptive of stains because of what the procedure did to them.

Hope this link helps you with all information regarding your teeth.Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.

wait until you take your braces off....just brush them a lot, floss and use listerine
